Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 500 g sugar Opt for organic sugar for a refined taste.
  • 10 g anise seeds Choosing high-quality seeds enhances flavor.
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 tsp anise extract Optional, adds extra flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the anise seeds in a rotating bowl or gently tumble them by hand. The seeds should feel rough and slightly sticky. Avoid clumping together.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water to create a syrup. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves. The syrup should be shiny and aromatic, avoiding rapid boiling.
  3. Gradually coat the anise seeds with thin layers of syrup by drizzling and rotating them for even coverage. Allow each layer to dry completely.
  4. Continue adding layers until candies reach desired size, transforming from sticky to shiny and smooth.
  5. Once large enough, let them dry completely on a parchment-lined tray to prevent sticking during storage.
