Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the pie crust by rolling it out and placing it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet on medium heat until crispy. Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, then chop it into small pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Add the cooked bacon and grated Gruyère cheese to the egg mixture and stir until well combined.
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is set and golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before slicing to allow flavors to settle.
Notes
For a crispier crust, consider blind baking the pie crust for 10-15 minutes before adding the filling. Using room temperature ingredients will help create a fluffier custard.
