  • 1 lb ground beef Opt for high-quality beef.
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped Use fresh onions for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns Toasted for the best experience.

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet, cooking until tender, around 4-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper, stir well, and taste for flavor balance.
  5. Spoon the sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of toasted hamburger buns.

Notes

Serve with crispy fries or fresh coleslaw. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
